Marathon Challenge re-scheduled!

Lance Corporal Rob Fisher, will now be running his marathon challenge on Saturday 25th May. We unfortunately had to cancel the original challenge due to the poor weather conditions and heavy snow.

He will be setting off from Chorley market on Fazackerley steet (TBC) from around 9:30am – 10am once everyone is briefed and ready to go!

The Major of Chorley and the Darwen town crier will also be in attendance to see Rob on his way.

Rob Fisher will be running the east peaks of Chorley around Rivington and Anglezarke and up to Darwen tower, carrying a 35lb berger and a de-activated missile launcher!

It’s an amazing challenge to do, especially for our charity and to raise money for the ex-service men and women in the North West.

If you’d like to come along and support him, please do! Any support is greatly appreciated! If you’d like to run with him whether it’s a mile, 7 miles, or the fun 26, please get in touch and we will arrange that with you!

Our Local Heroes Foundation would like to say thank you to everyone who attending our ‘A Heroes Weekend’ on May 11th and 12th.

The weather was not in favour that weekend but we thank everyone for attending who was a part of the football tournament, PNE legends game and the summer fayre, from stall holders to attendee’s.

On Saturday, we had some great teams who joined us! Leigh Foundry FC however, both teams A and B, powered through to the final and played against the Preston North End legends. Teams A and B all teamed up together to play against the legends, along side Bamber Bridge FC players, which again we would like to thank them for joining us!

The PNE Legends team consisted of Ian Bryson, Lee Cartwright, Andy Fensome, Chris Lucketti, David Lucas, Brain O’Neil, Colin Hendry, Youl Mawene, Stephen James, Greame Atkinson, Lee Ashcroft and  John Hills. Thank you to the substitutes of Gary Priestley and Zac Blackledge who also assisted the PNE legends team. It was a great success and thank you.

We would also like to wish Stephen James good luck as he starts his pro contract at Preston North End next season.

We would like to thank all the stalls who attended our summer fayre on the Sunday. The weather really wasnt in our favour with the winds blowing the gazebo’s over aswell! But people did attend and some fought the rain to purchase goods from their stalls. we had an array of stalls attending from food, jewellary, cards, gifts, amusements for children and more.

A big thank you to everyone who supported us and helped us make it a good weekend even though the weather was not in our favour.

A Heroes Weekend Times!

Hereos_A5A Heroes Weekend is shortly upon us in the next few weeks on May 11th and 12th and we have now arranged the times for the events! Please take note and come attend to raise money for such a worthy cause!

PNE Legends in charity match

This team will include, Sean Gregan, Lee Cartwright, Chris Lucketti, Brian O’Neill, Colin Hendry, Youl Mawene, Andy Fensome, David Lucas, Ian Bryson and more!

If you fancy your chances again these Preston North End legends, please enter our 5 a-side knockout tournament!

It’s only £5 per player and any substituations you’d like to bring with you incase you get through to the main charity game!

A HEROES WEEKEND! May 11&12th

On May 11th and 12th at Bamber Bridge Football Club, we are hosting a full weekend of entertainment for the whole family called ‘A Heroes Weekend’. This is to raise money for all ex-service personnel in the North West.

On Saturday May 11th, we will be hosting a 5 a-side knockout tournament in which the winners of this will play in the charity football game in the afternoon, against a PNE legends team! The rest of the team in which the 5 a-side players will play with has yet to be decided.

On Saturday evening, there will be ‘An evening of entertainment’ with a comedian, singer, food and more!

On Sunday May 12th, a Summer Fayre will take place with a variety of stalls, entertainment, performances and fun for all the family!

We have had some great support and response so far for both the 5 a-side teams and stalls, and if you’d like to join us, please don’t hesitate to do so and get in touch! There are plenty of places and we’d love you to join us!

Our Local Heroes Foundation would like to thank Dave Dargan at the Hayrick Pub in Leyland, for raising £150.50 for our charity!

The FA cup travelled to Leyland and was available to see by all at the Hayrick. Thank you to the kind people who donated money to our charity and the Hayrick Pub, in which we where thankful to be associated with, and hope to be again soon.

Heskin Hall Egg and Spoon Race!

Heskin Hall in Chorley are hosting a charity chocolate egg and spoon race for Our Local Heroes Foundation this weekend, on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday.

It’s just £1 for adults and 50p for children held in the beautiful grounds of Heskin Hall.

Our Local Heroes Foundation is based in Bamber Bridge, Preston, who supports ex-service men and women in the North West.

Heskin Hall are kindly helping to raise money for our ex-service personnel, so come along and enjoy the Easter weekend for a worthy cause!

Change of place and time for Marathon Challenge

We have a change of place and time for tomorrow’s marathon challenge being run by Lance Corporal Rob Fisher.

We will have a stall on Fazakerley street in Chorley where the marathon will take place and also finish. The time will now be 9:30am to start, where the Mayor of Chorley and the Darwen Town Crier will also be present.

Lance Corporal Rob Fisher will be running and walking at a steady pace carrying a 35lb bergen, in full army gear. He will carrying heavy and bulky military equiptment, a simulated military set and a replica bunker busting rocket launcher.

The marathon route will be undulating covering all the highest peaks East of the Chorley area – Healey Nab, Rivington Pike, Winter Hill, Great Hill & Darwen (Jubilee) Tower. The route will mostly be along roads & snail tracks but also there will be areas of deep mud aswell as wet moorlands – this will prolong the time & add to the fatigue.

He is to take on this challenge with support of some family members and friends who may also join him in his pursuit.

We are looking for more people who would love to take on such a challenge whilst raising money for a worthwhile cause. You can raise sponsorship however you wish and sponsor forms can be given to you to help raise money. Whether it is £10 or a £100, all goes towards supporting ex-service men and women who need support in rehabilitation and more.  sponsor form marathon
